  • With the IPEmotion 2017 R1 release, the CAN bus traffic analysis has been completed with acceptance filtering functions.

    The range of functions for the traffic filtering covers practical applications and supports a quick and easy monitoring of bus traces. Besides the manual configuration, acceptance filters can be set by an ID range (start and end CAN ID). As an alternative, ID ranges can be imported from a CANdb file (DBC). Moreover, the import function supports the restore of previously saved filter parameters.

  • The latest release of the IPEmotion App provides new display functions for limit value and reference value visualization. The instruments Tachometer, LED, Alphanumerical and Bar graph are now supporting user adjustable limit monitoring.

  • Sometimes IPEmotion users need to modify the sequence of the channel listing of display instruments. Especially when signals are added to an existing visualization, a re-sorting of listings provide a better overview.

    Using the shift key and a Drag & Drop operation, the signals order can be easily rearranged for the online data display (View area) and the offline data display (Analysis area).

  • With the latest release of the IPEmotion software, several functions have been optimized.
    Some important modifications are:

  • IPEflush is a cleaning device for flushing refrigerant circuits of HVAC systems.

  • Situated in Lower Bavaria, ROPA is an innovative company which develops and produces harvesting machines, i.a. sugar beet harvesters. In-field testing plays an essential role in the construction phase.

  • M-UNI2 offers temperature and voltage measurement with a single device. Combined with its reliability and flexibility the module is suitable for mobile testings as well as test bench applications.

    M-UNI2 provides eight analog inputs that can be configured individually via IPEmotion either for thermal elements Type K (NiCr/NiAl) or voltage (+/-30V). The analog signals of the measurement inputs are converted by the 16 bit ADC and are output to CAN bus according to ISO 11898-2 standard.

    The IPEtec test bench devices of the IPEload series have been designed for convenient A/C compressor load simulation in automotive development cycles. IPEload utilizes physical processes of refrigerant evaporation and condensation and offers a quick and precise operating point adjustment, guaranteeing repeatable measurement series.

  • Validating hybrid vehicles in fleet testing poses a big challenge for the automotive development.

    Hybrid vehicles are equipped with highly complex control systems in order to manage electrically driven, combustion engine driven and mixed power trains. The coordination of the power train components and the battery charging process have to be validated in relation to different user behaviors (e.g. city traffic, taxi, short distance, long distance, etc.).

  • IPEtec develops highly compact A/C compressor test benches. These systems provide various test procedures for development and benchmarking. Depending on the test bench type, the refrigerant fluids R134a, R744 (CO2), and Ry1234YF can be used for electrical and engine-driven aggregates.

    All test procedures support German VDA standards like:

  • M-THERMO2 u provides eight galvanically isolated inputs to be used with thermocouples of type J, K, N, R, S, T. Using IPEmotion, each input can be individually configured for the connected thermocouple.

    With its specially developed gold plated thermocouple connectors with built-in RTD, the module supports a precise temperature measurement even at extreme environmental conditions.

  • Synchronous data acquisition has been supported by our measurement software IPEmotion for some time now. Since CAN traffic data plays an important role in data analysis troubleshooting for vehicle bus networks, the analysis functions have been extended with the new IPEmotion release 2016 R2.   • The Campbell diagram is a very useful instrument to analyze disturbing noises and vibrations in vehicles in order to locate their sources. The multidimensional diagram shows existing natural frequencies (resonance frequency) in reference to the engine speed (RPM) using a color spectrum.

    Initially, the FFT from the recorded audio and rpm signals is calculated by the Campbell operation of IPEmotion's Data manager.

  • IPEmotion PlugIn IPETRONIK-X V02.01 supports Mx-SENS2 4, the latest device of IPETRONIK's X-LINK series. This offers a fast data acquisition covering channel sample rates from 10 Hz to 100 kHz.

    The new module, belonging to the family of fast Ethernet measurement devices, provides 4-channel voltage measurement up to +/-100 V and ICP® measurement (IEPE). Moreover, Mx-SENS2 4 is equipped with a galvanically isolated sensor excitation per input. It supports the use of TEDS sensors according to IEEE-1451.4 Class 2 standard.

  • The latest version of PlugIn IPETRONIK-CAN (V01.14.01) provides some new features:

  • Updating firmware V04.01 and subsequent versions, the proven IPETRONIK analog input module M-SENS2 supports the use of TEDS sensors (Transducer Electronic Data Sheet). The M2 device identifies IEEE-1451.4 Class 2 sensors and reads the sensor specific settings via the signal cable.   • Break tests for prototype vehicles are usually executed under extreme conditions of downhill drives in alpine regions.

    The driver visualization display and related data acquisition during the test run is completely realized by IPEmotion.

    This endurance test is arranged in three different main parts:

  • The IPETRONIK-X PlugIn supports a synchronous operation of X-Modules mixed with M-CAN-Modules daisy-chained in one system.

    Using the latest version (V02.00.02), now CAN only systems can be configured and measured also. IPETRONIK hardware connected to the PC's CAN interface is identified by IPEmotion's Detect function. This means, a single PlugIn is needed to cover all operation modes of X-Series and M-Series modules.

    Creating/managing fleet projects efficiently requires a reliable measurement data acquisition covering single test vehicles and complete testing fleets. Acquired data has to be provided to different development departments immediately, moreover data previews or specific status information should be available already during the test run.

  • With the Sequence control function provided by IPEmotion's control module, user specific steps can be defined and executed time-controlled. Thus, single test sequences and complete test procedures can be operated automatically depending on individual variables.

    The practical example shows a multilevel counter which is startet depending on a variable set by a user defined button (UserButton). Although the sample procedure is realized with Visual Basic Script (VBScript), a call of any other executable programm is supported.

  • The application driver IPEaddon INCA supports the use of IPETRONIK modules by the measurement, calibration and diagnostic software INCA from ETAS. Using the latest release V05.03 X-Series modules as well as M-CAN modules (CAN-Tunneling) can be operated via ETAS hardware (e.g. ES593) at the PC's Ethernet interface.

  • IPETRONIK's X-LINK Technology supports a synchronous operation of X-Modules and M-CAN-Modules daisy-chained to the LAN interface of the PC. The former required CAN interface is no longer necessary.

  • M-RTD2 is IPETRONIK's new temperature measurement module of the proven M-Series.

    Design of the M-RTD2 features four galvanically isolated measuring inputs, allowing highly reliable performances over a signal temperature range of -50 °C to +450 °C (-58 °F to +842 °F), achieved via simple 4-wire connection of the platinum probes (Pt100). Each input channel can be activated and configured separately. M-RTD2 provides channel sampling rates from one sample per minute up to 100 Hz. Measurement channels are housed within the modern M2-Series enclosure.

  • As of IPEmotion 2014 R2 and higher versions, it is possible to edit recorded measuring data as well as channel features.

    Changes are performed by overwriting current values in the data manager. They are directly visible in IPEmotion's analysis area. The cursor moves along the measuring data time axis and synchronously outputs the audio signals recorded to the audio channel.

  • As of IPEmotion Release 2014 R1 the display range was extended by the table display element.

    ... that M-CNT2 features recognition of rotating direction in frequency measurement mode and event counting mode?

    In this way, the sign of the rotational speed (counterclockwise or clockwise rotation) can be determined. In event counting mode, upwards and downwards counters can be set for position or angle determination. One practical application would be the measurement steering wheel, the position of which is continuously recorded. Any incremental rotary encoder with two channels (offset by 90°) can be used as sensor.

  • Using the Excel Add-In you can directly import IPEmotion measurement files (iad) from IPEmotion 2014 R1 and later versions into Excel for data evaluation.

    The Add-In is available for installation in Excel. You can download it here for free.

  • The IPEmotion App supports wireless data transfer from IPETRONIK logger systems including COMgate to Android tablets. IPETRONIK logger system users thus can monitor data acquisition online using tablet or they can use a tablet as custom-configurable logger data display.

    For this application, an Android tablet running the IPEmotion App and an extension of the measurement configuration are required. All required display signals can be set in the DAQ list of the XCP service. The direct IPEmotion App Export allows quick and secure setup of measurement data display on tablets.

  • Component testing in hybrid or electric vehicles, such as testing of electric compressors,
    place special demands on the measurement application due to high-voltage technology.

    The IPEengineering business division therefore developed a high-voltage intermediate
    adapter with a high-precision shunt that can be fitted with custom connector solutions.

    For high-voltage measurements on an electric vehicle, among others, the following components
    were used:

    Typical project-specific data can be displayed in the layout designer by a new editor: time of

  • IPEspeed, the GPS data receiver with output to CAN bus has been optimized in terms of hardware and software and now offers high-precision speed and position determination, as well as convenient configuration via web interface. 

    The module allows reception of continuous GPS data at a high-speed data update rate of 20 Hz and is suitable for all mobile measurement applications in the field of development, testing and quality management. 

    IPEspeed is easy to handle and provides a standard CAN interface. It thus can be used in various measurement systems.

    Special acoustic measurements are required to locate noise sources and to analyze their root cause. Noises can be caused e.g. by  engines or their components depending on rpm, climatic environment conditions or resonance behavior which influence the driving comfort. These analyses can already be performed during fleet tests / preproduction tests using IPEaudio.

    The acoustic measurement system IPEaudio consists of:

  • In about two weeks, the first IPEmotion 2014 release will be available presenting some new highlights - one of which is a traffic analyzer.

    The new table display element supports CAN message display as traffic data (hexadecimal and decimal) besides common signal measurements. Relevant information is displayed in a clearly arranged table in the columns relative time (beginning at measurement start), CAN ID, name of message, message type, data length code (DLC), data content. CAN traffic data acquisition is supported by the CAN Acquisition PlugIn V1.05 or the Logger PlugIn V03.52.

  • IPEmotion 2013.2 provides secure network connection using the new IPEcloud. In this way, IPEmotion supports direct data transfer via internet connection. Data are transferred from and to a FTP server to directly update the measurement configuration of the data logger system and to retrieve acquired data. This connection is set up in the IPEcloud settings in the IPEmotion options.

  • Using IPEhub2, the IPEmotion app and a WiFi connection it is now possible to transfer CAN data to a tablet. The app features graphical and alphanumerical data visualization. In this way, you can easily monitor your measurement projects.

  • In order to ensure the safety of CO2 climate systems in vehicles, leakage measurements are necessary in vehicle development state. For this purpose, the IPETRONIK business division IPEengineering offers a CO2 sensor with different measurement ranges that uses a ruggedized enclosure supporting IP65 protection class.

  • IPETRONIK has announced the recent expansion of its successful M-Series measurement modules to include a four-channel RTD (Platinum Pt100) version, the M-RTD2.

    Design of the M-RTD2 features four galvanically isolated measuring inputs, allowing for high-reliability performance over an signal temperature range of -50 °C to +450 °C (-58 °F to +842 °F), achieved via simple 4-wire connection of the platinum probes (Pt100). Each input channel can be activated and configured separately. M-RTD2 provides channel sampling rates from one sample per minute, up to 100 Hz.

  • The new IPEmotion 2013.2 release of IPETRONIK's configuration and data acquisition software provides new practical features. One of these features is the display of a third dimension for routes in GPS data.

    GPS data displayed on the map can be linked to an additional signal so you can store extra information about speed range and other values. In IPEmotion it is possible to assign different colors to defined signal ranges. The color of the route then shows the speed range at respective positions, eg. red at high speed, green and blue at medium and low speed.

  • The IPEmotion ADAM PlugIn supports Advantech's widely-used IO modules from the ADAM-4000 series.

    The ADAM-4000 Series consists of various analog and digital I/O modules used for a wide range of measurement and control applications. The PlugIn provides a user-friendly access to the modules for configuration and data acqusition.     The new improved IPEmotion A2L import features an online indication of whether the number of selected channels or the DAQ list cycle time will cause an ECU system overload.

    Channel count and sampling rate configuration can be adjusted during A2L import according to the online indication. This new feature helps users to perform their configurations successfully.

  • The new IPEmotion IPETRONIK-X V01.04 PlugIn supports an offset adjustment with optimized user dialog for Sx-STG and Mx-SENS modules.

    The new dialog contains all relevant parameters, such as measuring range, offset value, reference value, ... and displays the statuses of all channels after offset adjustment was performed. Available measuring range and check results (OK, Error) of channels are displayed against a colored background. This way, it is easy to check on the statuses of measuring channels quickly.

  • This year, Team Renault Trucks-MKR Technology presented four new Trucks on the Truck Grand Prix 2013 race track. The newly developed T Series is used for long-distance transportation, the K Series is used for construction site applications.

  • Shunt check is used for checking strain gauge bridges quickly and easily by performing sensor functionality tests before and after each series of measurement, e.g. during test run.

  • IPEmotion processes and saves your measuring data files carefully, even at the event of a PC operating system crash. After data acquisition has been stopped, IPEmotion moves the measuring data files to the StorageData directory.

  • Secure communication using an unsecured network requires encryption of messages and authentication of all communication partners.

    The license key is copied into the IPEmotion – Licensing dialog field and the online activation is performed by click. IPEmotion and IPETRONIK’s website now automatically exchange registration and activation key.

    This kind of activation is quick, safe and simple. It is performed using a PC connected with the IPETRONIK website via internet. If no internet connection is available, manual license activation is the other option.

  • Our Team of engineers and technicians at IPETRONIK’s Technical Center in Baden-Baden, Germany, use infrared temperature sensors to control tire temperatures. The sensors are installed in the vehicle’s wheel-well liners. An M-SENS 4 captures the infrared sensor’s analog output signals, while an M-POWER2 module distributes and monitors the supply voltage.

    IPEmotion's Ranges monitoring feature allows to control whether a measured signal is inside or outside of a user-defined range (tolerance band).
