TEDS sensors for chassis test benches

Application note for Sx-STG

A German automobile manufacturer demands high quality standards from its body development having repeatedly won the EuroCarBody award for using the most innovative material and production processes. To meet those demands, extensive mechanical tests of the lid systems such as doors, tailgate, engine hoods, and gas caps are performed.

The challenge

The component test benches for the different lid systems require a versatile signal conditioning of the different sensor systems. To guarantee a quick, accurate and reliable configuration of the measurement points, sensors with TEDS support are the perfect fit. The TEDS technology significantly facilitates the measurement point configuration because sensor identification, scaling and calibration data, as well as manufacturer information are stored on a chip inside the sensor plug.

The solution

The customer has decided to work with Sx-STG modules and the easy-to-use measuring software IPEmotion. Sx-STG provides TEDS support with active sensor detection, meaning that the measuring module is immediately able to detect a connected TEDS sensor. Moreover, it offers versatile signal conditioning for voltage measurements, the common quarter, half, and full bridge measuring techniques, as well as an integrated IEPE supply for acceleration sensors or acoustic measurements.
