From Wiring Diagram to Mobile Computing

Like so many success stories, things at IPETRONIK were unspectacular in the beginning. The company was known as Engineering Office Pregger back in 1983 when Robert Heck, Horst Ihle and Bernd Pregger received their first orders for special measurement developments from BMW. This was later followed by orders from Mercedes-Benz. The small company soon grew bigger by working closely with these very large automotive companies on test and measurement techniques. Those original companies are still valued customers today. After six years Industrie Präzisions Elektronik GmbH, IPETRONIK for short, was founded. A short time after IPETRONIK was formed development of the KIM/SIM product range was well under way. This innovative technology then made practical mobile in-vehicle measurement possible for the whole automotive industry, as well as sophisticated test bench applications.

Here was a system for the future which in 1996 was expanded for use in complex solutions including truck roller test benches, mobile data recording with data exchange via GSM communications, and on-line calculations for clutch statistics. Today this is standard. Back then it was a small revolution.
